Dr Marianna Stella

Senior Lecturer in Education and Childhood

Our Early Childhood Studies Graduate Practitioners will be advocates for young children's rights and participation, while recognising that young children are co-constructors of their own learning. They will critically apply high-level academic knowledge of pedagogy and research evidence, to the holistic development of infants and young children (0-8), in a practice context that is respectful of the child, their family and community. At the University of Suffolk, the Graduate Practitioner route is an optional route offered to all students studying in our BA (Hons) Childhood. Days in practice are required to be completed in Year 1 before enrolling on the Developing Practice GP1 module in Year 2. As part of this module, students will complete days in practice and develop a detailed portfolio which will demonstrate their knowledge and skills as a developing educational practitioner. In Year 3, students can enrol on the Professional Practice GP2 module, where they will continue being in practice at an educational setting while completing a practice project which will demonstrate their initiative and leadership skills in practice.
